The First Meeting of the 798 Art District Tenants Association, Huang Rui’s Open Exhibition and a press conference on the Subject of Seven Stars decision to expel artist Huang Rui from his studio and the question‘Where 798 is Going?’

CONTENTS:
1. 798 Art District Tenants Association will announce its establishment.
2. An Open Exhibition will begin in Huang Rui’s studio, along with an Academic Forum (refer to the attachment).
The future of the 798 Art District has suddenly come again into question since property management Seven Stars Group decision to end the lease contract for the studio space used by artist and art festival organizer HUANG Rui.
In response, the tenants of 798 Art District have held three meetings on the issue and signed a petition to establish a tenants association. Symbolizing the constructive and open spirit of the tenant association, the first decision jointly agreed upon by the members is to open Huang Rui’s studio to the public and the press for the first time in an Open Exhibition and to hold an Academic Forum open to the public on the larger subject of the future of the 798 Art District. Huang Rui’s studio has become the model for artists and galleries since he renovated it in early 2002. The academic forum is meant to further the development of contemporary cultural and the creativity industry in China.
