二、展览序言
任倢是一个个性很强的女孩，没有一般上海女孩的娇气与造作，却是十分的直爽与麻利。在她来考博士之前我并不认识她，所以她的考博作品先于她的人接触到我，当时就对这个女孩的快捷动作以及作品具有的灵动性产生了强烈的印象。
进入工作室后，任倢和其他学生的一个很大的不同是，仿佛她随时在构思作品，随时在吸收素材。手边的旧纸盒、破布条、废铁丝，都被她收集起来，作为创作的材料。很多学生创作作品都像要完成一项大工程，需要很大的勇气和足够时间的准备才开始，她却不然，经常能看到她有新的小作品出现，仿佛随手拈来。而且这些小作品都很有趣，充满巧思。
我想这个直率的女孩的心思其实是很细腻的，只有对生活充满爱、对万事万物充满兴趣的敏感之心才能在日常生活环境及日常物料中发现美，记录下自己的感受。于是这些简单组织却灵活生动的纤维织物中便蕴藏了生活的美。
这些作品仿佛是任倢的心情碎片，我很高兴它们有机会汇集起来，以展览的形式聚成一本日记与他人分享。

三、写在展前
在我决定做任倢个展时，其实我还没有见过她本人，这应该说是一个很冲动的行为吧。是的，很多时候单是作品的吸引，已经有了不由分说的理由。在几次的见面交流之后，任倢的作品气质和创作关注点，还有思考方式，更让我对她的展览充满了期待。
有时候策划一个展览亦如艺术家创作一般，需要有触动你的那个点。创作者把自己的思考和研究用一种她觉得合适的语言呈现出来，与观者进行沟通时，她有着各种可能性，因而产生的彼此启发是个兴奋点。
任倢的作品传递给我了一些说不清楚却很动心的东西，我尝试着通过展览把这样的体验推介给大家。

四、艺术家自述
日常生活环境以及各种日常物料非常吸引我，尤其是灵活多变的软材料和细小的物件。我将它们以尽可能简单的方法和工艺重新整理、组织起来。通过这种形式，每一种微不足道的物料所组成的集合体超越了简单的各部分相加，产生新的节奏、隐喻和对话。它们有时指向那些不易察觉的规律，有时则提示了一种可能性或是一个偶发事件。这些日常生活中抽象的、并不显而易见的部分正是我所感兴趣的。

II.Forward
Ren Jian has a strong personality, without the usualaffected manners of Shanghai girls, and is quite forthright and deft. I did notknow her until she became my student, and therefore her work, the test pieceused to apply as a Ph.D student, reached me before she met me in person. At thetime I was already impressed by the cleverness and wit displayed in the artist'swork.
After enrollinginto our studio, Ren has shown she is very different from other students:seemingly she is always conceiving artworks, and is always grabbing materialsaround her, like old cartons, rags, scrap iron, all collected for her creation.I see many students treating art-making as if they were embarking on a hugeproject, which takes them lots of courage and long preparation time before evenstarting. But Ren is unique. She is consistently producing new small works thatare conceptually interesting and playful.
I believe this forthright girl actually has a sensitivewit. Because only people who are passionate toward life are capable ofdiscovering the beauty of daily things and recording them. You can feel theseeveryday beauties in her understated and inspiring fibers artworks.
Those works are like fragments of her mind, and I am gladthey get an opportunity to be collected and to be shared with others in theform of an exhibition--like a personal journal.

III.Curator
It was a compulsive decision of mine tohost the exhibition of Ren Jie, as I even did not know the artist’ gender whenI decided. Well, I think sometimes artworks’ attraction can simply make peopledecide. In fact I became aware her works’ focus, attitude and thinking wayafter talking to her several times, and therefore I became full of expectationto Ren’s exhibition.
To organize an exhibition somehow likes tocreate an artwork – something touching is needed. And I was touched by Ren’sartistic language that carries her thoughts and discoveries.
The art pieces pass me some feelings that Icould not explain in words, and I tried to share this experience to others viathe exhibition.

IV.Artist’s Personal Statement
Daily surroundings and everyday objects isvery appealing to me, especially those that are soft and small. I use thesimplest way possible to process and re-organize them together. And throughthis method, every tiny material can compose together something that will gobeyond each micro objects just simply combined. Such combination can create anew rhythm, metaphors and dialogue. They sometimes are pointing at the vaguepatterns, and sometimes simply suggest a possibility. These everyday yet hardlyvisible abstractions are what I find interesting.
