Last summer I presented a soloexhibition titled GENERATION P, at Platform China in Beijing. "P"represents my personal experience, as well as the general attitude of mygeneration. "P" is the first letter of my name "Pei". The"Pei" sound is similar to the English word "pain". It iscommon for the people of my age group to use the English language to think, andthis usage of P and Pei and pain is more or less unintentional. To use theChinese term (meaning pain, pronounced"tong"), to me feels a little strange, because I want to be a funperson. For me, there is no pain. P can represent many forms: pain, punk, paranoia, Pei Li, pink, perfection, puberty, prime, pay, perhaps, play...

PROJECT P, in many ways is acontinuation and extension of GENERATION P.

In my previous works, withmyself as the subject, I was somehow able to achieve total containment andtotal release. With PROJECT P, the tattoo records the process, a method ofstory exchange, a mutual record of a process of exchange - straightforward andeffective.

I have encountered many peoplewith tattoos, and none of them expressed a feeling of suffering - theshort-term feeling of pain is outweighed by the long-lasting effect.Psychologically, the ability of the tattooed person to suffer a small amount ofpain indicates that a positive change has occurred - the mindset altered. Thepain of the mind is stronger than the pain of the flesh. Therefore, the tattooprocess can relieve people's pain.

Tattoos are wounds, which youcarry with you for a lifetime. Free of charge, I will give you a tattoo inexchange for your story - a reason you are willing to bear this wound for therest of your life. Understood from another perspective, by giving yoursuffering for me to protect, this will help you release your burden.

I always strive to feel newthings, to experience life, not as a way to find inspiration, but instead todiscover the stuff that allows people to become artists.
