经过数年的自省后，姜国哲业已取得了实践中的突破:他在实际工作中, 他致力于探索“形象、结构、叙事观念”以及自我描绘的概念，而非临摹一张照片。
在这些多层油画中，他建构了对形象或主题非自然的叙事方式，在画面上将形象不断重复，且在画面上的形象之间发生着有意思的关联。在这些作品中，总有一个满含不确定的光环——一个满载着无数可能性的故事结局。
此系列作品的特点是它们都在不断挑战绘画的传统, 比如“什么是主题?”“什么构成一个背景?”以及“空间是如何定义的？
我们看到部分主题变得含糊不清, 顾左右而言他，或完全被背景、存在于同样空间里的三维及二维对象所吞没, 这是姜国哲的一个重要的系列作品, 非常适合作为姜国哲的首个个展。

Afterseveral years of introspection Jiang Guozhe has made a breakthrough in hispractice: rather than painting from a photograph he is now exploring the “ideaof the image,” of “composition,” “narrative” and the concept of paintingitself.
Inthese multilayered canvas we see him construct evasive narratives withcharacters which seem to repeat themselves across the picture plane or findthemselves in strange relationships to the other characters/objects on the canvas.In these works we find always an aura of uncertainty — a story with myriadpossible endings.
Thisbody of work stands out in that it seeks constantly to challenge theconventions of painting, for instance “what constitutes a subject?” “what constitutesa background?” and “how is space defined?”
Wesee parts of subjects becoming blurred, or becoming wholly swallowed up by thebackground and three-dimensional and two-dimensional objects existing withinthe same space. It’s a pivotal body of work for Jiang Guozhe and thus a fittingchoice for his first solo show in China.
