Franz West 弗朗茨·魏斯特回顾展维也纳开幕

魏斯特是一位享有国际声誉的艺术家，他的作品包括雕塑，装置，和设计等。在过去的三十年里，魏斯特在促进1965年后艺术的发展发挥了关键作用，他的创作探索了雕塑作为一种社会和环境经验的新的可能性。魏斯特把基本的形状转化为不规则，大型的结构，并且把行为艺术，连同经典艺术与雕塑艺术的视觉元素熔于一炉，形成了自己新型雕塑的特色语言。
魏斯特对铸造性材料的控制产生出了不同于其他任何艺术品的外观。作为一位奥地利艺术家，魏斯特的创作明显体现出一种欧洲起源，但现在魏斯特的作品已经越来越受到国际性的认知，他的作品现在在全世界各地都可以看到。
他的雕塑作品往往用混凝纸(Paper-mache)、聚苯乙烯（Polystyrene)、 硬纸板、金属、环氧树脂等最普通的材料覆一五颜六色的色彩，创造出一种鬼魅的艺术氛围。
日前魏斯特回顾展展“AUTO-THEATRE”在奥地利现代艺术中心Kunsthaus拉开帷幕，展览持续到2011年1月9日，随后将将在德国科隆与意大利那不勒斯巡回展出。
魏斯特出生与1947年，属于上世纪60，70年代深受行动主义与行为艺术影响的艺术家。
