展览主题:
伊比利亚当代艺术中心将于2010年5月29日隆重推出董文胜、高世强、韩磊、蒋志、金石五位艺术家的影像作品展览“摄影劫——中国艺术家在第二届马德里摄影节”。
作为中国当代影像艺术创作领域最为活跃的一线艺术家,他们的作品持续地吸引着来自国内外的广泛关注与讨论,并受邀参加2010年第二届马德里摄影节。作为西班牙乃至欧洲最具公众影响力的当代摄影节,他们的入选意味着什么?我们如何看待和讨论摄影节?是形象工程?还是有内在体制化倾向的艺术展览形式?在很大程度上,摄影节在世界各地成为一种在地化的图像应对策略,艺术家以其生产的图像参与全球各地的摄影节展览,他们的作品维度与态度在多大程度上影响了不同社会形态语境中的图像阅读趣味的形成?
以上几个问题引向本次展览主题“摄影劫Kalpastival of Photography”,以“劫Kalpa”代“节Festival”,在此“摄影劫”指向摄影本体,摄影节作为当代影像生产与流通机制的终端环节之一,如何在不同的社会、文化语境中选择并呈现影像作品?我们试图通过对五位艺术家作品的片断式研究触摸到当代摄影的某种本体属性及摄影节的相关问题。
摄影节是一场图像的盛筵,也是一场摄影劫。

Exhibition Introduction:
“Kalpastival of Photography— Chinese Artists at the 2nd MADRID FOTO” featuring photographs by five Chinese artists, Dong Wensheng, Gao Shiqiang, Han Lei, Jiang Zhi, Jin Shi, will be inaugurated at Iberia Center for Contemporary Art on 29 May 2010.
As major forces in Chinese contemporary photography, they have created works that receive continous attention and discussion worldwide, and have been invited to participate in the 2nd MADRID FOTO 2010. What does the fact of their being invited to currently the most influential photo festival in Spain and even the Europe, imply to us? How do we look at and talk about photo festival? Is it a vanity project after all? Or a variation of art exhibition with inherent tendency towards institutionalization? Photography festival has mostly become a sort of image strategy for localization around the world. While photography artists bring their creation to various festivals around the globe, to what extent have the dimension and attitude contained in their works cast influence on the formation of image-reading taste in different social forms and contexts?
The above questions are proposed around the exhibition motif “Kalpastival of Photography”, with “Kalpa” substituting for the former part of “festival”. In this case, “Kalpastival” signifies the ontology of photography. How does “festival”, as one of the terminals along the production and circulation line system of contemporary images, select and present photographic work amidst a variety of social and culture contexts? This exhibition aims to touch on the ontological property of contemporary photography and problems relevant to photo festivals through a sketchy examination of the five artists’ work.
Photo festival is a feast of images as well as a kalpastival of photography.
