People who took pictures in front of the famous monument in the 70s, 80s were invited to re-take the same pictures many years later, with the same poses on the same location.


For most people, Tian Anmen has a special significance. The concept of re-taking a picture after an old one isn't new, and this is not a secret for photographer Hei Ming. Coming from another province he has been living in Beijing for 20 years. He always wanted to find a way of representing Beijing, and to confirm his relation with the city. As he was looking at pictures of people in front of Tian Anmen in old albums, he had the idea of re-taking the same pictures with the same people. He put an advertisement in a newspaper, and 100 (group of) people responded.
