Yan Peiming received the French Legion of Honor
Last tuesday, France gave Franco-Chinese artist Yan Peiming the Legion of Honor. It was Francois Pinault (holder of Christie's auction house) who handed the medal to the artist.Although this ceremony was hold during the tensions between France and China, it had no relations with the Yuanmingyuan's relics affair. It was mainly organized in the occasion of Yan Peiming's exhibition in the Louvres. Since last year, the Louvres museum has been organizing a series of event where contemporary artists are invited to present their works together with classical works. In february, Yang Peiming was invited to show his works in the French 19th century and Italian renaissance exhibition rooms. The themes of his works were: the Mona Lisa, the artist himself and his father.
Yan Peiming is also preparing a series of works to be shown at the Prado Museum in Madrid.Below a work inspired from the "Tres de Mayo" of Goya.
