The 2nd annual ACAF NY is coming in November 2008 to Manhattan's Pier 92, showcasing works by a stellar front line of contemporary masters and an exciting selection of work by emerging artists who are consistently setting tomorrow's trends. The five-day event brings a vibrant international art market that is attractive to prominent collectors as well as new collectors of Contemporary Asian Art.

ACAF NY Preview opens to VIPs (invitation only) Thursday, Nov. 6 from 5pm - 9pm.
General Admission Fair Hours are Friday-Sunday, Nov. 7-9 from 11am-7pm and Monday, Nov. 10 from 11am-6pm

New York, NY - One of the most important exhibitions of contemporary Asian art, the 2nd annual Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York (ACAF NY), will be held from November 6-10, 2008, at Pier 92, 52nd Street and 12th Avenue, in New York City. More than 80 international galleries and non-profit organizations will show a wide range of contemporary work by artists from countries including China, Japan, Korea, India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam.In 2008 ACAF NY has diversified its scope to also include artists from the Middle Eastern and Central Asian countries of the United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Iran, Turkey, and Kazakhstan. Much of the work, including paintings, sculpture, photography, works on paper, video and installations, will be on view for the first time in the U.S

The Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York is the only international art fair in New York dedicated exclusively to Asian contemporary art. Last year’s inaugural fair was hailed as a major success, providing collectors with an unusual opportunity to gain an overview of Asian art and see work by emerging artists, as well as internationally-recognized names such as Zhang Xiaogang, Nam June Paik, Yue Minjun and Yayoi Kusama. An opening night preview will be held on the evening of November 6.

“After the strong critical success of last year’s fair, contemporary art collectors are marking November in their calendars,” noted Cristal Kim, Executive Director, Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York. “Demand for Asian contemporary art continues to soar with stunning growth in the field. As the first Asian contemporary art fair in New York, we are inspiring a vibrant dialogue about contemporary art from one corner of the world to the other while presenting some of the most important work on the market.”

Exhibitors
A wide range of leading galleries from 15 countries, as well as several art organizations and institutions, will exhibit at the Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York. An exhibitor list is attached.

Opening Night Preview

Special Exhibitions, Programs and Events
ACAF NY has commissioned two special exhibitions from the Middle East and China. A number of panel discussions and lectures are also planned by leading curators, art historians, collectors, journalists, art dealers and artists on issues relating to Asian contemporary art. Participants will include: Christopher Phillips, Curator, International Center for Photography; Richard Vine, Managing Editor, Art in America; and France Pepper, Director of Art and Culture Programs, China Institute. The Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York (ACAF NY) is presented by
AsianArtWorks, a company devoted to the development and appreciation of Asian
contemporary art throughout the world. AsianArtWorks also works to increase Asian
and Asian-American involvement in contemporary art in New York City. ACAF NY and
AsianArtWorks were established by Cristal Kim, a Korean-born art dealer and collector
who lives in Beijing and New York City.
