光明谱展览延续了艺术家肖武聪近几年以来的工作逻辑，即对艺术之中的光明的研习与谱写。过往的工作中艺术家身处自觉而沉默的表达方式内部，在大量文献资料的阅读思考、分析比对的日常工作里，艺术家获得数量庞大的“工作笔记”，同时收获了无数的“问题”。这样一种向内扎根的“艺术的准备”，使艺术家形成了自己独特的语言方式，而对知识、现象、图像的梳理和校正的档案式实践，使艺术家从外向内地不断追问：艺术在哪里？

“艺术在哪里？”追问的底色显然不是欲望和野心，它在肉身存在和对肉身的逃逸的纠缠中更接近要求与自律；在观念、形式、风格、语言的陷阱与观察、认知、逻辑、表达的矛盾这些切肤之痛的真问题中，艺术家从一堆承载制度、规则、伦理的报纸材料里撕裂出自身，并捕捉和谱写起光明的裂痕，使骨头、容器、枝干、灯盏、梯子等等象征物脱胎而出，成为被传袭的家谱、被举过头顶的圣物。艺术家肖武聪的工作就像在废墟里拣拾残骸，从树上采摘果实，就像在所有迷障中迎来光明的念头。

Script of Light is consistent with the logic employed in Xiao Wucong’s works over the recent years, namely a study and composition on the light within art. The artist is situated in self-aware, taciturn interiors of the modes of expressions in his previous work. In his daily work of reading, contemplating, analysing and comparing huge amount of archival materials, the artist has obtained a large number of “work notes” and harvested countless “questions” at the same time. This kind of inwardly rooting “preparation of art” allows the artist to formulate his unique language, while his archival practice of sorting and correcting knowledge, phenomena and images enables the artist to further question the inside from the outside: where’s art?

“Where is art?” is not a question that implies desire and ambition. It gets closer to demands and self-disciplines in an entanglement of physical existence and escaping the physical; In the real relevant questions that lie in the wiles of concept, form, style, language and the contradictions of observation, perception, logic, expression, the artist tears himself off from piles of newspaper materials bearing regulations, rules and ethics. He captures and composes the cracks of light, giving new life to symbolic objects like bones, containers, trunks, lamps and ladders, which then become inherited genealogy and relics that are to be raised above head. The work of Xiao Wucong is like picking up relics from ruins, plucking fruits from trees; It’s a welcome of the ideas of light in a maze.

肖武聪，1985年出生于中国广东。 2008年毕业于广州美术学院油画系，现工作生活于北京。

Xiao Wucong, born in 1985 in Guangdong, China. Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 2008, currently based in Beijing.
