我们是否能够忘记如何观看？这就是Claerbout录像里所抛出的问题，但只有耐心观察录像的观众才察觉得到。
Claerbout最近在法兰克福美术馆-Museum fur Moderne Lunst展出的录像装置 越南，1967，Duc Pho附近（2001） ，被安置在Jeff Wall 两个著名作品《说故事的人》（1986）和两个灯箱之间。Claerbout的这个录像呈现的是一架美国军机在一片青葱的越南山脉中炸毁的画面。如果不耐心观看，会误以为这个录像只是一个静止的画面，就和Jeff Wall的灯箱一样，根本不会去注意到当中微小的变化。其实，如果仔细观察，会发现，军机在画面里是静止的，而后面的越南风景是动态的，一丝丝的阳光其实正照耀在这片山脉上，后面的一片绿色也随着云朵和阳光在变化颜色。
1998年的录像作品Kindergarten Antonio Sant’Elia, 1932所呈现的也和这个越南的作品一样。黑白的没有声音的画面，描述的是意大利科摩的幼儿园Antonio Sant’Elia在1932年的开张。孩子们在意大利强烈的日照下正在公园里玩，他们的身上充满了斑斑点点的影子。孩子们就像是在照片里凝固了，而他们的凝固也被当中的两棵小树所强化了。
其他的作品如1996年的Boom和2002年的作品Man under Arches也集中在视觉上的观察，他需要观众注意力集中的情况下才被感知。而今天，由于各种现代媒介的出现，人类的视觉感知能力已被这些加速出现的媒介所麻醉，人们的视觉感知能力已麻木不仁了。在人类的历史中，从没出现过那么多的影像数据需要我们每天去接收。同时，视觉其实也变得越来越来肤浅了。Claerbout的作品似乎要提醒的就是我们这个视觉麻木时代的来临。
