自从1983年，Jack Tilton 画廊变成一个著名推广国际前卫年轻艺术家。自从开了以后，画廊办了几百个当代艺术家的展览，列David Hammons, Marlene Dumas 和 Francis Alys.
目前，画廊继续办代理艺术家的展览。每年办6次展览，加一个年轻艺术家在计划空间。展厅分开了两层，离Whitney Museum of American Art, Metropolitan Museum 和其他画廊很近。

Since 1983, the Jack Tilton Gallery has become well known for promoting cutting edge, emerging artists from around the world. For over two decades, the Tilton gallery has exhibited hundreds of contemporary artsts, many of whom, like David Hammons, Marlene Dumas, and Francis Alys to name but a few, have become prominent figures on the international stage.
Now housed in a historic landmark upper east side townhouse, the gallery’s current exhibition program will continue to support our established gallery artists, as it remains committed to discovering and cultivating new talent from around the globe. The gallery will present six exhibitions a year, with a rotating emerging artist program in the gallery’s project space.
The 2,400 square foot exhibition space is located on two floors at 8 East 76th Street, at 5th Avenue, NY, within New York’s ‘museum mile’ and walking distance from the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and other galleries like C & M Arts and Gagosian Gallery.
While the Upper East Side Gallery is Tilton’s main base of operations, he currently co-own Roberts & Tilton Gallery in Los Angeles, the China Project, a studio exchange program and exhibition space in Tong Zhoa, China.

TILTON GALLERY LAUNCHES ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM IN CHINA
Established in 2006, the Tilton Gallery’s Tong Xian Art Center residency program allows for international artists to spend one month working in Tong Xian, the center of the explosive Chinese art scene. Tong Xian was recently designated a cultural district by the Chinese government.
The Tilton Gallery, one of the first New York galleries to exhibit Chinese art, has been showing work from China for more than a decade with exhibitions by Huang Yong Ping, Xu Bing, Liu Wei, Ma Liuming and other important artists of the Chinese avant-garde. After acquiring a three-acre parcel of land in Tong Xian ten years ago, gallery owner Jack Tilton commissioned two new buildings. Leading Chinese sculptor and architect Ai Wei Wei designed one of the structures, and the Boston-based architectural firm Office dA designed the second. Both buildings will provide housing, studio, and exhibition space for the residency program.
“The residency program offers a unique opportunity for international artists to absorb the expansive, rapidly developing culture of China,” said Jack Tilton, who established the residency program.
“Cultural exchange in the art world is a key component of fostering innovative approaches to art making.”
This program offers a unique opportunity for artists to live and work among the best avant - garde artists living in China today. Artists can stay anywhere from two weeks to several months.
The center is located within a half hour of downtown Beijing. Tong Xian is now considered China’s premiere arts district and is home to hundreds of contemporary artists. The Tong Xian residency provides a fully immersive experience in the cultural life of China. We provide a translator, guide and introductions to Chinese artists, critics and curators.
