群展“生存痕迹”探索了艺术作品本身作为其创作记录的基本理念。通过呈现8位国内外艺术家——安德鲁·贝克、李景湖、梁硕、马泰奥·洛佩斯、乔恩·帕斯托尼、施勇、田中功起和杨光南——的作品，本次展览探究了媒介与物质构造作品修辞方式的功能，这一功能根本上反映了其制作者的生存现状。展览的标题“生存痕迹”源自1998年1月由冯博一策划、举办于北京东郊的同名展览，展现在形式、概念上迥异的作品，从而反思当代审美实践中的“生存”概念。

“Trace of Existence” explores the basic idea of the work of art as a record of its own creation. Juxtaposing eight positions from China and abroad, with works by Andrew Beck, Li Jinghu, Liang Shuo, Mateo López, Jon Pestoni, Shi Yong, Koki Tanaka, and Yang Guangnan, it looks at the ways in which medium and materiality function to structure a work’s rhetorical proposition and ultimately testify to its maker’s presence. Taking its title and inspiration from a radical underground exhibition curated by Feng Boyi on the eastern fringes of Beijing in January 1998, this exhibition reflects, through formally and conceptually disparate works, on the notion of “survival” (as the title might be alternately translated) in contemporary aesthetic practice.
