关于《清洗》和《暗房》

Cristina:为什么您使用传统方法做图片?
王友身:我喜欢这种微粒世界的情境交流。


Cristina:您清洗图像的主要目的和将显示或隐藏着什么?
王友身: 是变异图像的信息能量和越清洗越显现。


Cristina: 您做“暗房”的第一动机是什么?
王友身:“暗房”是源于1998年在澳大利亚新南威尔士州立美术馆举办的我的个展,该展的空间又大又高,在该空间里,一般性的作品计划是很容易被吞噬,作品也不容易引起观众注意。我首先考虑的是取消作品和观众的时空感,所以黑暗(Dark)和暗房(Dark room)是个不错的选择。
“暗房”是一个开放式的公共空间,从技术的层面上看,这里展现的是影像和信息的“不断制造与不断遗忘”循环过程;从社会层面上讲,它让观众体验了真实和虚拟,民主和权力的现实情境。
“暗房”是个不确定性的体验现场,是个开放的的欲望呈现空间,它是一个无形的社会协作系统。

Cristina:图像的循环和民主政治之间关系?
王友身:某种程度上,似乎我们在“暗房”可以很轻松地自主地复制和衍生着图像,进行着图像与现实间的循环呈现,似乎我们可以比较民主地参与社会实践工作,但体制内部的权利和利益的限制,却掌控和颠覆着我们这个虚拟的情境。


Cristina: 怎么看摄影图象在您的每日工作及作为一个报纸艺术总监和您艺术工作的关系?
王友身:艺术就是媒体。何时,何事,何人,何地,为何,记录,编辑,制作,消费,反馈,这些关键词是构成媒体的基本要素和工作流程。
今天的媒体,已经改变了我们对于现实与可视世界的认识。媒体经验就是真实经验本身。我们的一切认知都通过媒体而来。我们在享受媒体的同时,媒体也在制造并消费着我们。
从工具论角度,艺术和媒体都是媒体,都是我们相互交流的媒体。
从媒体到媒体—媒体对我而言有两重含义,既是我的职业工作,也是我的艺术工具。
我以媒体的基本信息载体—图片,作为信息处理和艺术表述的主体形态。从1989年作品《√》开始至今的《暗房》和《请洗》,一直以来,直接利用媒体图像的资源并发掘新闻图像自身的巨大信息能量开始成为我工作的基本方向。
我用图片表述的目的不在于技术设备的条件和形式,而在于恢复其本质和最初的意义—截获我们的信息和表述我们的态度。

What was your first motivation to do the Dark room?
“DARK ROOM” is originates in 1998,It was for Solo Exhibition in Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney in Australia,the exhibition' space is high and largeness, in the space, normal art works is easily to be neglected,the works will make visitors moved. I first to consider to cancel the sense of space and time between the information and visitors. Dark and Dark room is not a bad choice.
“DARK ROOM” is a openly public space, from skill level, it shows the cycle process of image and information on "constant makeing and constant forget" , from the level of society, it will make visitors to experience the reality and dummy, the real situation of democracy and power.

How do you see the relationship between the circulation of images and democracy?
In some kind of degree, we may very with ease independently duplicate and produce the image as if in “Darkroom”, and carry out the rotating process between image and reality. It seems that we can take part in the practical social work with democracy, But the system interior power and the benefit limit, actually the control and is subverting we this dummy situation.

How do you see the use of photographic images ( production, circulation) in your daily work as an art director in a newspaper in Beijing and your artistic work?

record, edition, manufacture, expends, feedback
These key words are the media constitution and the basic essential factors for
the work flow.
Today, media already changed us regarding to be realistic and the visible world understanding. The media experience is really experiences itself. Our all
cognition all pass the media. We enjoy the media, the media also are making and are expending us.
Discusses the angle from the tool, art and the media. All is the media, all is
the media which we exchanges mutually.Has the twofold meaning as it concerns me from the media to the media—media,not only is my occupation work, It is my artistic tool.
I takes the media as basic information carrier -- picture, the main body shape
which indicates as the information processing and art. The work "√" starts until
now " DARKROOM" and " WASHING" from 1989 , since continuously, directly and has excavated the basic direction using the media image resources which news image having own huge information the energy starts to drive me to work.
I use the goal which the picture indicates not to lie in the technical equipment,
the condition and the form, but lies in restores its essence and the initial significance intercepts our information and indicates our manner.
