It has been over 5 months that Telescope has been closed to the public because of the Coron***irus pandemic. As of July 2020 Caochangdi is still closed to all outsiders making it impossible for Telescope and other galleries and businesses to operate. Therefore we h**e decided to permanently close the current Caochangdi location where Telescope began in 2012 and look for a new gallery space and alternate ways of exhibiting artists work. Instead of sadness I am really excited about the future of Telescope as it expands its mission and walls to other spaces, areas, and collaborations. In 2019, through Telescope, I curated two Chinese emerging artist exhibitions in the US. The first was in New York at the Luhring Augustine Gallery, which opened in October 2019, and the second exhibition, which is now scheduled to open in September 2020 in Los Angeles at Bridge Projects. Telescope is alive and well as it continues its pursuit to open doors to the west for Chinese artists and to find a new home in Beijing for local exhibitions.

I want to thank all of the friends of Telescope for your support, faith, energy and love, especially now during these troubled times.

Telescope

A non-profit styled project space located in Cao Chang Di, Beijing. It is established by American curator James Elaine in 2012. Its aim is to serve the emerging artists and art communities of China by providing exhibition, curatorial, writing, and mentoring opportunities in its gallery space. Telescope will also be a cultural bridge providing exposure and opportunities for China’s emerging artists abroad.
