Tipsy

Things cannot hide themselves in the flash. The mysterious reality is concealed behind the mountains and water of this world. The scenery which always welcomes it admits themselves just in a few seconds. It makes me curious of the man collecting scenery and the limit his uncertain eyes have swept---- maybe I am still an emotional person who is hating the boring city but has to stand it.

“An algae mark on a fossil, but in five hundred million years ago, maybe it is a knot for hunting?”

Bought the small fossil because at first I think it's like a knot people used to hunt or commit suicide by hanging, things can be thousands different forms why it would be such a shape, what is it doing in that moment when five hundred million years ago it became a fossil, it presents a shape of a knot on the seafloor is to  capture or to hang some creatures? In order to satisfy my imagination, I also painted two oil paintings.

Hangover

Imaging a land is covered with rivers like a web meticulously woven; the rising vapor is consumed and transforms themselves in the air; the roots of plants connect each other and wither on the earth. Imaging the forest is haunted by the miasma; the silent and secluded cave conceals something unknown while the subterranean river who rears them is dying quietly.

Except for the meaning fixed by the concept, I believe easily all things are endowed with sentiment that most of us don’t know though many occasional behaviors of them seem to be totally meaningless. The only thing an outsider can do is to imagine endlessly, which is a perception we can never name. I try to imagine the nature is telling me its secrets, the secrets that are full of magic, propelling all guesses and fantasy to grow like luxuriant foliage, drowning me in the following feeling of getting drunk.

Deep Relax

Single channel video, color, sound

8’  2018

The video begins with a meditative sound app, which is a meditation on auditory images, and I attempt to treat my severe insomnia with this closed, deep hypnosis. However, the sound of the meditative sound app is nothing more than a product of electronic synthesis, contradicting the purpose of this app which is presents the sounds of nature. At the same time, for me, nature as the purpose of "spiritual healing" remains paramount. It is only in meditation that my parallel imagination can be evoked by a dazzling array of visions.

The Other Side Of The River

Dual channel video, color, silent

8’32”  2017

In an ordinary afternoon, I intercepted a stream with a flash signal which convey an obscure Moss code to the other side's people. I also tried to use this way to convey a word.

The Other Side Of The River: Talking Flower

Single channel video, color, silent

4:3  2’50”  2017

In a cold, ordinary afternoon, one blossom on the top of the tree is particularly dazzling. The sunlight came from behind her, and she looked so proud and sad that I do not know what she was trying to tell me with the frequency of her shaking.

Moving in circles

People believe that the miasma comes from the deposit formed after the decay of local animals and plants. It spreads like a mist in the morning. All things cycle in the nature. If they disappear in a twinkle at the moment, they would move into the next state in an instant, in which we all know there wouldn’t be anything new born. If nature is in a chaos, it is brimming with unknown mysteries waiting to be explored; if nature is as clear as nature history, then they will pass away gradually in the time even they are taken good care of.

Double Bed

Shell, pearl, acrylic, tray

38×38×8cm  2018

Everything is changing and cycling, nothing is really gone, or really born, it is just the difference between moments and moments. Even if it is natural or unnatural, it will eventually lead to some kind of circulation. So, can non-natural objects be changed into natural objects? So, will gummy bears have the chance to become the natural pearl in the shell?

Nameless Starry Sky

Single channel video, black and white, silent

10’  2017

I scan a negative film which have exposure errors because the broken camera lens, and I get a picture of the speck of dust, which looks like a summer night starry sky. I dragged it into Photoshop to adjust the brightness and see if there is any object of imprinting, and I accidentally click on the selection tool, the speck of dust on the picture start to twinkling like real stars, so I get a artificial unnamed starry sky.

Like Time Stops

Performance, installation, rose, glass, water, table, aspirin, thermal paper

2018

Put an aspirin in the water, will time stop forever? In the movie “City Of Glass”, Gangsheng secretly gave a rose to Yunwen on the ball, and tell her to put an aspirin in the water everyday, so the rose will be bloom forever. Of course it is impossible. The extension time of aspirin use is only an illusion.
