This work is composed of 8 videos: "Ego's Transcendance" 《超越自我》, "Collective Dream"《集体造梦》, "Wealth Platform"《财富讲坛》, "Share the Tears" 《分享泪水》, "Collective Strategy"《集体谋略》, "Implicit Trust"《绝对信任》, "You won't die"《你不会死》, "Losing Mind"《意乱情迷》. Each of them lasts for about 2-3 minutes. All the video shootings come from Amway company employees' training classes. People playing in it are actors, who purposely adpot a inappropriate attitude. After the editing, videos resemble a 'normal' training activity shooting. 

 

Background: 

The American firm, Amway, was implanted in China in 1995. There are about 1 800 000 employees. Their work mainly consist in promoting Amways' products, their grants are based on the amount of products sold. Their training is very efficient and insure the company's stability as well as its development. The training programme itself respond to the main official way of thinking, emphasizing the ideas of collective happiness, love, trust, etc, and stimulating the dream of wealth. It intensifies the consciousness of money, wash out traditional values and shame, using a system of rewards. According to statistics in 2004 Amway in China sold the equivalent of 17 billions Rmb, China's Amway is the most successful one in the world.

 

Notes:

001 - These politics or society's semblances also carry a certain poetic character, which actually is humans' most crazy poetic aspect. They need to use a destroying way to reveal it: "art" is a verb. I don't have much material requirements, what I need is to change them, and this transformation has to overset a certain aesthetic inertia. Art is a powerful act, and interesting transformation or powerful act are enough to make me feel enthusiastic. 

002 – Thoughts on "Training Camp" and "Revisionism" concepts. 

003 - The video "Training Camp" was inspired by a certain model of the capitalism invasion's victory. It is a success' example of capitalist ethics' control, it brings to light people's dreams of wealth [...]. Control level of training camps on the community can stimulate, manage, excite, enthral people. The training can be realized within a small commmunity, or expand to the politic and economic areas. 

004 - "Collective craziness" is a response to lack of self-confidence. Weak people who lack of self-confidence, exagerated media promotion, all produce a certain frivolous and entertaining worship for idols, money, fashion and media. People easily loose their normal judgement capacity and start to crazily participate to this machine, no matter if this opportunity really has something to do with them, they won't try to analyse what's hidden behind it […]. This kind of collective movement is very contagious. [...] 

005 - Amway training strategy: actively modify, manage and train individuals. Deny the past, turn towards a future filled with strategies: accepting training, education, etc. [...] 

006 –The theory of “Discipline” might be understood this way: “practice”, it is a special technique to impregnate living flesh with thoughts’ program, policies and commercial programs in accordance with various targets. Body control aims in brainwashing and acclimation, it turns thoughts into muscles which unconsciously react like nerves. When the body is trained, it losts its original free nature, and people’s soul are reduced to materialism, this is a basis in common training’s theories. […] 

007 – Revisionism uses a continuous refutation against constant “verity”, therefore revisionism is an attitude and not a result, an unceasinly renewed attitude. Revisionism can become a kind of art strategy: metamorphosing things by using tools and emphasizing words. When doing art one can also start from politics or society, and change its nature by using acts of demolition or decisiveness, which would change its attitude, of course its original nature can still be indentified. […] 

008 – Capitalism revisionism: 1. Stimulate “psychic escape”: as a capitalist world, provide the impossible “possible world”. With the capitalist victory background, present a “possible world”, produce a non-existent existing fact, revise lacks in capitalist spirit according to different beauty criteria. 2. Stimulate “capitalist escape”: use art production’s “surplus value” to lubricate the capitalist machine. Art is the only hard currency of capitalist society, and is the lubricant of capitalist society, because art kept the necessary artificial attitude. 

009 – Democratie revisionism: technically modifiable democratie. Democratie is the “less mean” social contract, it is only a certain feeling, a placebo of “social justice”, it is also an entertaining tool for community. Democratie revisionism can be realized through Democratie Training Art Camps, and by using different technic training, body movement, attitude and feeling training, create another experience of a more extravagant democratie, maybe there will be some possibilities of other “less mean” –ism.
