Vancouver's Jeremy Hof is the 2008 winner of the tenth annual RBC Painting Competition. Over 1,200 works were submitted, and the choice was narrowed down to 15 finalists, with Hof, the national winner, taking home an award of $25,000. Hof used mathematical precision and a mixture of acrylic and latex paint and plaster on panel for his winning entry. From afar the painting appears to be a two-dimensional work, but reveals itself to be a series of grooves and layers, upon closer inspection.
