Foreword
In our daily life, it seems like something has been running and transforming into the extremity. Although the anesthesia of the engagers and the inertia of the participants make contribution to the sustainability of this system and keep it running, the inner cycle itself is full of feeling of insecurity and danger, which is much more unnerving than the incoming, foretold, doomed day.
The exhibition "Today" will be set to begin on December 21st, 2012, which will be a symbol of our doubt, "Will the doomsday be a single repetition of the our daily reality again?" As the topic constructing the doomsday -- how can we face an unnerving or an yearning tomorrow?
How will the nine artists of our exhibition regard this special and unique day? Let's looking forwards to it!
Two Questions:
1、 A paragraph or a sentence to describe your artwork for the exhibition.
2、No matter you believe it or not, the day "December 21st, 2012" will be remembered. Please write down a sentence for the specific day.
Group Proxima 《Girl, why are you so sad》 Installation
1.An installation describing a scene, it can explode to destroy something, it can
break into renaissance and rebirth, too.
2.If the "Doomsday" ever exists, what will you lose in the first place, the material (body) or the soul?
Zheng Hong 《Specimen—Moth 》110x80cm watercolour on paper ZhengHong
1,Moth is a symbol of destiny, contemplating the "Moth" is a kind of self-meditation.
2.This day is NOT an end but a beginning.
Fang Wei 《 Glimmer—6》120×160cmOil on canvas spray
1,The light is difficult to catch up. I want to make the pale light entering the chambre as a clue and symbol for man's uncertain desires existing beyond the reality.
2,Every day would be the same as "Today" yet a little different from it. Perhaps it is an underlined day for meditation.
Chen Dongfan 《The Unbearable Lightness of Being》 190x40x50 cm Installation
1/Just to make a monument for 2012 with foam -- I wanted to make something weird without any lucks to succeed. And it has grown into such form gradually: big foams supported by small ones, oblique. The big ones are all tall with colourful frames, like a skyscrape with thousands of lights fired in the darkness. And you can recognised the blurred number "2012". I have cut a corner to show the original white, soft surface inside. On the top, it is covered by some polyurethane material with some white feathers of a swan scattering around. It is just a monument for my emotion not for ideology.
2,I want to many, many things, like studying a foreign language, practising martial-art, publishing a book for child... and so be it.

1,Living in China I am fascinated by pattern and routine. The development, the scale, the faceless crowds, how individuals fit into these aspects of every day life and the comforts in doing so. For this exhibition I have created two animations that explore these issues, repeating endlessly and relentlessly like the mass group exercises so visible all over the country that they are attempting to depict.
2,For me, I am supposed to be back in Scotland on the 21st of December 2012. However, the decision has been made to stay in China past this for an indefinite period of time. That is what I will be thinking about on that day.
Yu Qiongjie 《 Today》 580X840mm Earl paper four-color printing
1、Today and tomorrow, as axes, will ever be able to find the corresponding point in the x-axis and y-axis; In thousands of postures, delicate and charming of flowers, as if it is ourselves or our society, our country, this beauty cast doubt on its existence behind what is it? The emergence of the crow and skull, a metaphor for death, but also imbued with mystery. For today and tomorrow, animals and people through the eyes getting intersection. Tomorrow, it is a next today, let us go to the record and assume our actions on today.
2、Living hard !
Zheng Wenxin 《two cups of coffee》 150x200,Oil on canvas
1、There's always a sense of crisis in my mind. It's not about the panic of the end of the world. It's the sense of physical space and space of consciousness being dissimilated and corroded by the external energy. However, the way of expanding our own energy is active cognition of self and awareness of the surrounding. The erosion and the contradiction from the external space to the private space is the core of my work. Painting express is very much different from taking videos. I believe, apartfrom my own creation, there must be a natural power to cooperate with.
2、No matter the existence of the end of the world, facing to the day, I'm unperturbed. Because I've owned love.
