Beijing Commune cordially invites you to the
opening reception of Hu Xiaoyuan Solo Exhibition.
Hu Xiaoyuan will be showing 4 new video works which she has made during 2009 to 2010 in her first solo exhibition at Beijing Commune. In Hu’s works, you can always see there is a delicacy of form, or sometimes there is a tendency to obstinacy in her delicacy. In her previous works, the feeling of form, appearing in a more concrete way, linking up her life and physical experience. While in this exhibition, Hu seems moving forward from a concrete representation to a more abstract way and emphasizing more on time, space and form. No matter it is the instantaneous changing moment, rhythmic movement happened on the screen, or those seemingly still framed waiting, these subtle changes in her works create the important details in the forming of the meaning of her works.
Hu Xiaoyuan, graduated from Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), is one who has received much attention in the younger generation of Chinese contemporary artists. Her works has participated in important exhibitions including but not only, “Mahjong - Contemporary Chinese Art from the Sigg Collection”, Kunstmuseum Bern, Bern in Switzerland in 2005, and “Documenta12”, Kassel, Germany in 2007.
