A Conversation with Yun-Fei Ji
Presented by James Cohan Gallery and ArtAsiaPacific Magazine
March 23, 2010, 6:30 - 8:00 pm

New York-based artist Yun-Fei Ji will speak to Don J. Cohn, Chinese scholar and senior editor of ArtAsiaPacific Magazine about his work and experiences encountered during his recent travels to China.

In his second exhibition at James Cohan Gallery, Yun-Fei Ji presents new works on paper that employ historical art making practices to explore contemporary political and social issues. Also on view is Ji's recent artist book in the form of a traditional scroll, Migrants from the Three Gorges Dam, which was recently published by the Library Council of The Museum of Modern Art, NY. This 10-foot-long scroll is the story of the Yangtze River and the humanitarian, environmental and cultural consequences of the Three Gorges Dam project. The exhibition closes March 27, 2010.

Yun-Fei Ji is currently preparing for his "homecoming" exhibition opening at James Cohan Gallery Shanghai in June to coincide with Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

Don Cohn, born in New York in 1948, studied Chinese literature in university, and has worked as an editor, translator and journalist in Taiwan, China and Hong Kong for over 30 years.

This event is free to the public but reservations are required. Please RSVP to Peter Brandt at pbrandt@jamescohan.com or 212.714.9500.
