The Art House Shanghai Award
Organized by the Ailing Foundation and ArteFiera, in collaboration with ShContemporary
In addition to the "Euromobil Under 30 Group Award" launched in 2007 by Arte Fiera's main sponsor Euromobil S.p.A. to promote young artists whose works are displayed in the stands of the Galleries exhibiting at Arte Fiera, Arte Fiera Art First 2010 will host for the first time ever the Art House Shanghai Award, a competition exclusively aimed at under-35-year-old artists whose works are exhibited by galleries at Arte Fiera 2010
This January at Arte Fiera Art First in Bologna, Italy, an artist under 35 years of age will be selected by a jury of internationally acclaimed art professionals to spend a month being inspired and stimulated by the dynamism that is Shanghai and China today.
The award of a month-long residency in Shanghai is offered by the Ailing Foundation, a Shanghai-based organization dedicated to helping adults and children through the arts. The Art House is their international residency program which assists in promoting international artists’ work in the Asian art scene. In addition, the winning artist will receive round trip airfare to Shanghai courtesy of BolognaFiere, the Organizer of Arte Fiera and ShContemporary.
The coveted prize will be presented by the judging committee to a young artist whose work is displayed by a gallery at Italy’s foremost international modern and contemporary art fair. The committee will have to ascertain a winner from the dozens of applicants which have been presented by galleries which exhibit young artists work at Art Fiera Art First.
The judging committee includes Colin Chinnery, Director of ShContemporary; Mami Kataoka, Chief Curator of the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo; and Gianfranco Maraniello, Director of MAMBo, the Museum of Modern Art in Bologna.
The winner will be announced by the judging committee on Saturday January 30th 2010 at 15:00 at the ShContemporary booth, n° 55 in Hall 18, of Arte Fiera.
