要让你带，你想带什么？
要不让你带，你还能不能带？

这是五位艺术家在OV画廊举办的“随身携带 - 中国当代艺术展”中所提出的一个议题。我们不妨揣测一下，艺术家们将会为这个当代艺术展带来些什么来？如果将作品的作者姓名抹去，人们是否还能从他们各自所“带来”的，抑或不再用“作品”来称谓的物件，猜测出此“作品”究竟出自于何人之手吗？如果猜对了，他们是否会因为应对了“文如其人”而感到欣慰，或是因为没有了挑战而又有些失落？如果猜错了呢？

平日里，这五位各持异见的艺术家，在这次“随身携带”的展览上，试想着共同呈现一种状态的“生成”。 每个人的“随身”，有可能是固执的、偏执的，也有可能是不时而逝的“一花一世界、一叶一乾坤”，它们可以指向一切方向，可以指涉任何事物，但所有一切的关键却是：从自己的一管 - 窥出去。

因此，“随身携带”透露的是这样的信息：什么是你认为值得关注的，以及你有没有真正地关注它。 当我们关注什么东西的时候，这是不是我们真正的关注？当有什么东西干扰了我们的关注的时候，是它有问题 ，还是我们本身有问题？我们能不能像想像的那样：扔下不想带的，带上想带的？

让我们等待着“随身携带”所作出的验证吧！

If you are allowed to bring, what do you want to bring?
If you are not allowed to bring, would you still bring it with you?

This is theme of the Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition of these five artists in “Carry-on Items” to be held at Oriental Vista Gallery. We can speculate about what these artists will bring along to this exhibition. If we erase the names of the artists from the artwork, can the viewers figure out the authors of the artwork from what the artists brought along? If the guess is correct, the viewers would be delighted to learn that their guesses match the Chinese saying: the writing mirrors the writer? Perhaps they may be dismayed because it is not challenging? What if the guess is incorrect?

Each having their own artistic views, they will together present the same status using the same concept. Everyone has their own “carry-on”, it could be stubbornness or bias, or it can be as temporal as the Buddhist saying “a flower lives in its own world or a leaf has its own universe”. This is applicable to any direction or any matter, the key is that everyone is viewing from one’s own perspective.

Therefore, “Carry-on Items” meant to bring along this message: what is worthy of your attention and whether you have paid any attention to it. When we are paying attention, are we really paying the right attention? Besides, in case we are distraction in our attention, where does the problem lies? Can we simply act like what is in our minds: discard what we don't want to bring and bring with us what we?
