迈克尔·史密斯（Michael Smith）在超过35年的创作中发展起了一种涉及了美国文化及艺术界的悲喜剧方面的深刻实践，梳理出了孤独、消费主义、个人对成果与失败的考量等方方面面。迈克尔·史密斯（Michael Smith）通过其表演性人格Mike和Baby Ikki的角度来详细研究了这些主题——Mike是典型的不断屈服于其掌握之外的趋势的一般人，Baby Ikki则是一个带着胡子的冲动的孩子。
