自从照相机和电影出现以来，写实油画作品与图片的各种关系被无数次的阐释。谢宏军的作品用古典绘画语言表达，却更多表现的是社会学的内容，对一个时代的理解通过对照片的图式再创作表现出来。画电视节目《非诚勿扰》里的女嘉宾这个题材很有当下的时代特点，演绎情感或情感娱乐化。谢宏军画的肖像，大多是女性题材，不论是处于什么时代，她们的身份是什么，女性永远是置于被观看的对象，而恰好女性的状态都能很好的反应当下时代的面貌，譬如当今剩女之泛滥的成因，可以引发很多值得思考的问题。他从电视屏幕上截图画成肖像，把动态图像静态化，笔触细腻，有着温和的视觉注视，传达了人物瞬间表情的神韵。画老照片和老电影的画面还是对历史的缅怀与重塑，有一种遥远的召唤意义，虽然是现实主义的描绘方法但与真正的现实隔了好几层。而谢宏军选取的这些最当下的事件断片式的反应了现实的面貌。

Since the invention of the camera and films, the various relationships between photos and Realist oil paintings have been explained in countless ways. Xie Hongjun’s work employs the expressive language of classical painting, but transmits sociological information; he depicts his understanding of an era by recreating the composition of a photograph or film still. He painted a special guest in the television program “If You Are the One,” a subject that represented the time. Xie infers emotion representing as amusement in today’s medias. The majority of the portraits painted by Xie Hongjun feature women from different eras and different stations in life. Women are always objects being viewed, so the state of women can well reflect an entire era. For example, the large number of single successful career women who have difficulties to find satisfied men to get married with in today’s China raises many issues worthy of discussion. Xie takes pictures of his television screen, which have been made into portraits showing in this exhibition. His brushstrokes are meticulous, and his gentle vision portrays the charms of the subject’s momentary expressions. Painting images from old pictures and old movies are the recollection and reconstruction of history; they are a call from the distant past. While Xie Hongjun selected current events so that he can directly reflect the reality of today with still portraits from film clips.
