谭平,中国当代艺术实践中秉持“内观与自省”的重要艺术家。恰值谭平卸职履新之时,筹备两年之久的最新个展《彳亍——谭平作品展》亦将于2014年9月28日于偏锋新艺术空间启幕。此次个展展示的是谭平自2013年开始的最新艺术探索的阶段性成果,同时也是谭平一贯创作立场与态度的呈现。
作品源起
“彳亍”,慢行慢进,时走时停。“彳亍”的命名既是对谭平创作理念“内观与自省”的延续,也是谭平多年艺术历程的真实写照。从中央美院到德国柏林艺术大学的学习经历,从中央美院版画系教师到设计学院院长再到中央美院副院长的身份转型,每一次身份与角色的转换,都带给谭平的艺术创作以新的可能。谭平,作为中国最具影响力的当代艺术家之一,将中西艺术融合贯通于自己的艺术创作之内。“内观与自省”,是谭平艺术道路上的永恒主题。
1984年本科毕业创作铜版画《矿工系列》在现实主义风格的表现上达到了一个极致;1989年于中国美术馆举办的素描大展中令人印象深刻的《网》系列作品,引发学院内外对于“素描”作为独立创作媒介,极具前沿性的思考与讨论;1994年谭平留学德国归来,在北京当代艺术馆的个展中,又以一系列在形式语言上大胆创新的版画作品,引起中国当代艺术界的强烈关注。并不止步于建立并重复个人语言的谭平,在不断的转换之中不断尝试,这种敢于放空自己,忠于内心创作欲望的魄力起源于艺术家对创造力的追求和对自己艺术创作的自信。在当代艺术圈中特立独行的谭平,作为中国当代艺术界少数远离意识形态与创作符号的艺术家之一而备受关注。
观展脉络
即将于偏锋新艺术空间展出的作品,来自2013-2014年艺术家对于自我挑战的再一次创造性尝试,同时也包含多件谭平个人艺术轨迹中代表性作品。他对艺术本源的追求经历包含了从“画它”、“画我”到“我画”的转变过程,这是一个艺术家自我提升的过程,沉醉于写心般的创作方式,建立起一个完全自我的叙事世界。
谭平的艺术创作是简明的、清亮的也是极其个人的,在绘画形式的转变之中,隐藏着谭平对内心冲动与欲望的寻找。在谭平用木炭条去“写”、去“画”,将全身的力量、感悟倾注于纸面与“线”的碰撞。观看者跟随“线”的走势与变化深入艺术家纯粹与执着的内心世界。谭平将偏锋的展厅空间重新分割并调动,画廊的二层空间展示谭平多个创作阶段内堪称经典的素描作品,而一层中心展厅将谭平以素描纸与木炭条完成的绘画作品平铺于展台之上,打破传统西方绘画对于艺术作品的观看方式。通过艺术家的干预,“观看”被重置在艺术家创造的环境里,进入展厅,置身谭平庞大的情感及精神世界之内,感受他在形式与自我立场中的坚定笃行,艺术家的内心情感于“画”的过程中逐渐显现;而观者将在“对视”与“俯视”的视觉转换中,获得进入“看”的逻辑内的机会。此外,艺术家还以影像的方式从动态视觉的角度诠释作品,引发观者对于“彳亍”前行的多维观感。
在“彳亍——谭平作品展”中,时空的概念被弱化,谭平所要传达的“彳亍”的意识得以升华。在“内观与自省”中,呈现出谭平在艺术形式探索上的自由与开放。一段不知止于何处的艺术之旅,选择“彳亍”的谭平,为我们提供了中国当代艺术实践中难得的一个内省反思的立场。

1960年生于中国承德;
1984年中央美术学院版画系, 获学士学位;
1984 —1989年为中央美术学院版画系讲师;
1989 —1994年获得德国文化艺术交流DAAD奖学金,就读于柏林艺术大学自由绘画系,获硕士学位和Meisterschule学位;
2002 —2003年任中央美术学院设计学院院长、教授;
2003 —2014年为中央美术学院教授、副院长;
2014年任中国艺术研究院副院长。

Tan Ping is an important artist whoadheres to the artistic concept of “insight and the introspection” in Chinesecontemporary art practice.At the time when Tan Ping takes his newposition, “Walk Slowly—an Exhibition of Tan Ping’s Arts”, which have beenprepared for two years, is to be opened a new way of Pifo Gallery in Sep.28, 2014.The solo exhibition of Tan Ping is composed by the achievements of thelatest art exploration since 2013, and displays Tan Ping’s constant creativestandpoint and attitude.

“ChìChù: small steps towards that stopsand goes sometimes.
The nomination of Chì Chù is Tan Ping’s creation concept of“insight and introspection”, and also miniature of Tan Ping’s years of artcreation.From Central Academy of Fine Art to the study experience at theUniversity of Berlin, Germany, from the central academy of fine print systemteaching position to the director of institute of design, and then tovice president of the China Central Academy of Fine Art, each of theidentity and role transformation all bring Tan Ping’s works new possibilities.Asone of most influential contemporary artists, Tan Ping infuses Chinese andwestern artistic concepts into his creation.“Insight and Introspection” is theeternal theme of Tan Ping’s art pursuit.The works “Miners Series” which he created for his graduation in 1984 achievedperfection in realism expression. The impressive series of Net were showed in the sketchexhibitions in National Art museum of China in 1989, which provokes wildreflection and discussion on “sketch” as an independent creative medium.Afterhis return from Germany in 1994, Tan Ping caused the strong concern of Chinesecontemporary art with a series of audacious pieces on formal language in thecontemporary art exhibition in Beijing. TanPing, who don’t stop at building and repeating his personal language, kepton attempting in transformation; his efforts in emptying himself and beingloyal to his inner creative desire originated from the artists’ pursuit ofcreativity and self-confidence. Tan Ping, a maverick artist who keep awayfrom ideology and creative symbols, has attracted much attention of the Chinesecontemporary art circle.
Theexhibition context
The art works going to be exhibited in PifoGallery are the creative attempt of the artist from 2013-2014 to challengehimself, but also a display that contains the representative works in TanPing’s personal artistic endeavor.His pursuit of artistic origin experienceincludes from the “Paint it”, “paint me” to “I paint’’ transition, this is anartist of self improvement process, indulge in heart of writing way,setting up a complete account of the world.Tan Ping’s works are concise、clearand the personal, the change of the form, hidden his search forthe inner impulse and desire.In Tan Ping ’s latest creation, he uses charcoal to“write”, ”painting”, and the power of whole body, comprehend for pouring intothe paper with “line”.Viewers follow trends of “line” and changes into theartist’s pure inner world.Tan Ping’s exhibition space divided into two area:second-floor space of the gallery showed Tan Ping ’s multiple phases theclassic sketch works, and the first floor would flat out the sketch paperand charcoal paintings on the platform, breaking the traditional observationway of the art works. Through the artist’s intervention, “watch” is reset inthe creative environment. When Entering into the hall, place yourself inthe Tan Ping’s huge emotional and spiritual world, feeling his firmpractice in the form and self-position, and then the artist’s inner feelings on“paintings” appeared; The viewers will get into the logic of “look” whiletransforming “eye to eye” and “overlook”. On the journey of art, even without constant destination andanticipated direction, Tan Ping choose to “small step forward, stops and goes”,who provides us a rare chance of introspection in China contemporary artisticpractice.

Tan Ping
born in Cheng de City, Hebei Province,China in 1960; He graduated, with a bachelor's degree in print-making, from ChinaCentral Academy of Fine Arts in 1984, He was a lecture of China CentralAcademy of Fine Arts from 1984——1989; from 1989 to 1994, he was rewardedwith a scholarship of DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) bythe German Culture and Art Association; He studied inthe Berlin Free Art Department of University of the Arts, and obtained amaster degree and the qualification of Meisterschule; From 2002 to 2003, heworked as the dean and a professor of the College of Design, China CentralAcademy of Fine Arts. From 2003 to 2004, he acted as the dean andprofessor of China Central Academy of Fine Arts. He was elected the vicepresident of China Academy of Art in 2014.
