马修·戴·杰克逊（Matthew Day Jackson）的个展“Something Ancient, Something New, Something Stolen, Something Blue（老东西、新东西、偷来的东西、蓝色的东西）”近日在纽约Hauser & Wirth画廊开幕。展出了艺术家最新的探索——新的绘画、雕塑和装置。

参观者进入展览后遇到的第一个对象名为“VICTA”，一辆由杰克逊最近去世的叔叔Jim Nichols设计的车，由艺术家的表弟Skip Nichols制造，他是一位冠军车手、建造者、老师以及尼克尔斯工业赛车的老板。这辆车散发着家族关系的传统，却跟市场上的其他车看起来没什么区别。参观者们可以从VICTA的下方走过，检视它的零件和历史，将它作为一种物理论文去分析，或者一种对于展览标题的物质化呈现。通过将VICTA搬来寂静的画廊空间，杰克逊使其的目的从预期的效用转变成了意外的意义，并且为他的展览旅程提供了一个出发点。

另外三个新的大型雕塑，杰克逊使用了基本的光学编程技术，产生出了人们即刻就能从艺术史中找到原型的完整尺寸的重塑对象。

这三个雕塑中的每一个的制作过程就是由用智能手机拍的照片开始的。杰克逊将他的图像下载到一个免费的普通应用程序上，然后3D打印出这个照片，使对象通过这种手段诞生在这个世界上。

第一个雕塑“Scholar’s Rock（学术之石）”，是对“Scholar’s Stone（文人石）”的复制。（编者注：一种景观石，有名为灵壁石。）它是马萨诸塞州波士顿美术博物馆内的一件著名的工艺品，几个世纪以来都被当做是一种沉思的对象而倍受中国文人学者的敬慕。随着时间的推移而被大自然的力量所雕刻，这些古老的“具有精神力量的石头”被许多人认为代表了一个遥远的、人迹罕至的天堂，那里的神仙居住的高山峰云间——那是人类梦想的目的地。杰克逊的雕刻借助了由云电脑生产出的数字网格模型，以与月球尘埃化学性质相同的物质压缩塑形，它在现实与虚构之间的界限起了中介的作用。

杰克逊将不同的时间模式整合进单一的物体。雕塑“Burghers of Calais（加莱的义民）”，是将罗丹（Auguste Rodin）于1889年创作的著名雕塑“Les Bourgeois de Calais”与一个全尺寸的地图3D打印模型放在了一起，这个地图展现的是曾经历6位载人登月任务宇航员的月球表面地域。罗丹的那六个英雄式的市民站在杰克逊的月球表面时，仿佛融化在太阳了热量之中。它们以青铜铸造，这种深具纪念意义的材料，市民成了宇航员的替身，被当时是一种对历史和命运多舛的英雄主义的化身的提醒。

由T-111壁板和石膏板构建起来，这种材料设计家庭生活、家庭建设和所有权，这个展览的建筑强化着艺术家对于文明和探索、征服与后果的主题的兴趣。来自杰克逊的持续进行的系列“Anatomical Man（解剖人）”的新作被呈现在写着展览标题的T-111墙上。

5个雕塑人体的站在带镜子的箱子里。其中每一个人物都代表着一个独体的躯体系统，就像我们自己拥有的那种梦幻般的的系统。每个雕塑都根据其所代表的系统而被命名；而这5个一起则探索了人与人类——物理上和形而上学方面——的位置。为了创作这些对象，杰克逊使用了一系列的材料——包括铝、铅、铜、瓷、木、玻璃——以区分人体的神奇动脉、结构、肌肉、静脉、神经、骨骼和肉。
