地表、材质、运动，是廖斐最近比较关注的三个主题。
对廖斐来说，之所以去进行艺术创作，有很大一部分是出于对未知事物探索的愿望。而当今世界的复杂又似乎恰好为廖斐的艺术创作提供了无限的可能。
德国社会学家卢曼将十七世纪以后的欧洲社会称为功能分化社会。今天，社会复杂性的持续和级数增长，为社会的功能分化提供了源源不断的强劲动力。正如毕达哥拉斯学派在数量关系中探究美，如今已分属科学与艺术功能系统。科学与艺术这两个功能系统虽然泾渭分明，但互为彼此的环境，存在着无可否认的结构耦合，而且可以相互观察。因而艺术系统能够透过科学环境进一步对世界有所了解，以求扩大自身的活动场域和运作的可能性参照。而廖斐，无疑是具备这一自我指涉的艺术家。正如他过往作品中，通过科学同艺术元素的互动来实现潜在的元素，这便是廖斐艺术系统的自我生产。当然，在这一动态的进程中，新系统新元素的不断偶联也使廖斐的艺术在实现和潜在中变换。
本次展览中，廖斐的作品继续围绕“事物以何种方式存在？又以何种方式组成，运行？”这一话题自问自答。
他试图从足球、斯诺克、垒球、橄榄球、冰球等人类在封闭的场域里创造出的运动中探寻结果。在运动中、球体被推动、击打产生运行、加速、折射、摩擦、减速、静止。在这里我们创造出了我们自己的剧场，伴随着激情，把握着物体的运动。
而从宏观的视角出发，我们的脚下是地表。山川、河流、草甸甚至我们创造的城市、公路、球场也是地表的一部分。它们也在永恒地运动着，尽管难以察觉。
在寂静的宇宙剧场里，一切存在遵从着简洁、清晰、机械的美感，以机械的方式组成、运行着。

Surface、material and motion are what Liao Fei keepsa watchful eye on recently.
Exploring the unknownworld, for Liao Fei, acts as a momentous reason why he does creation. And themultifarious world today seems exactly to offer him infinite possibilities.
Niklas Luhmann, the Germansociologist, pointed out that Europe after 17th century was a functionaldifferentiation society. And today, the continuous and progressional increaseof society complexity, powerfully drives functional differentiation without abreak. Just like nature and beauty which were explored together by Pythagorasnow respectively belongs to science and art system. Entirely different thoughscience and art are, they are mutual surroundings and there exists admittedlystructure coupling. What’s more, they can observe each other. Thus, art systemcan win a further understanding of the world with science system in an attemptto broaden its exercising field and the potential operating reference.Undoubtedly, Liao Fei possesses this self-reference. Exactly as his past works,new element was realized from the interaction of elements in art and scienceand that’s the autopoiesis in Liao Fei’s art system. Of course, with contingentelement from new system, Liao’s art system varies from existence and potential inthis dynamic process.
In this exhibition, withanswering his questions himself, Liao Fei’s works still focus on “How thingsexist? And how they are constituted and operating.”
He attempted to find theanswer from football, snooker, softball, rugby, hockey… which were created byhuman in a closed field. In these motions the ball was pushed forward, moveswith strike, quickens, reflects, rubs, decelerates and stops. In the theatrecreated by us own, we grasp the motion followed with passion.
From the macroscopicangle, we stand on the earth surface. Rivers, mountains and meadows evencities, roads and courts are also a part of the surface. They motionperpetually, though unobservable.
In the silent universetheatre, all existences are constituted and operating in a mechanical wayfollowing the succinct, clear and mechanical beauty.
