Using everyday condiments, which are common associations of Eastern and Western consumption, the performance comments on identity in a globalised culture using raw materials and the artists’ bodies. In viewing the fight we are confronted with ambivalence. The spectacle is presented as a source of fascination and mixed feelings, raising questions about cultural expectations, interactions between ‘high’ art and popular culture, displacement and our response to viewing the other.
