“回家”——回到哪里？“室内”在今天是否是一个安全地带？

这个“室内”的空间，由段建宇的绘画（也包括装置：条纹帘和一双藏有画板和灯的男人鞋）和黄河的装置（日常使用的白色杯碗）共同组成，题为《回家》的绘画看上去似乎具有大众审美所认可的乡村浪漫气息，而艺术家为主人公（一挺胸裸露作浪漫抒情状的女性）所作的搭配和所设的场景，构成了对典型大众审美趣味的小小“位移”，立刻让我们感受到这些浪漫场景所折射出来的虚荣和空虚；黄河名为《小睡》的装置作品 ，使用的全部是日常的各种白色杯碗，它们并没有被放在餐桌上，而是直接放在了地板上，而且，它们在黄河的“风水”测算下，以一种自成一体的方式重新确定了自己的位置。这些杯碗中注入了“干净的水”，收集着室内的灰尘，人们需要小心翼翼的绕过它们，去看墙上的绘画。行走在黄河摆放的脆弱的杯碗边缘：既让我们焦虑地联想起和周围世界的脆弱关系，又有一种在岸边散步、遥望水波的隐约的诗意，有趣的是，不时有观者不留神踩在了碗沿。

由段建宇和黄河的作品组成的空间，唤起我们意识中一个日常生活和幻想相交的边界：那些小人物们（“平庸的、向往精英的”）正谱写着也许经不起现实打击的日常生活史诗。

















“Go Home” - Back to Where? Is the “indoor” area a safe one today?

This “indoor” space will comprise both Duan Jianyu's paintings (including the installation of drapes with stripe prints and a pair of men's shoes which have a drawing board and lamp hidden within) and Huang He's installation (with white bowls and cups meant for daily used). At first glance, the paintings entitled Back to Home seem to possess a sort of romantic rustic feel that would appeal to the aesthetic sensibilities of the masses. The artist has carefully matched his chosen protagonist (a naked, buxomy woman whose appearance conjures up notions of romance and emotiveness) with the scenery design, in order to create a tiny “displacement” in the typical aesthetic sensibilities of the masses. This immediately allows us to sense the inherent vanity and emptiness evoked in such romantic scene. Huang He's installation, entitled Nap, is compsed with all sorts of white bowls and cups used on a day-to-day basis. These are not on a dining table, but rather are placed on the floor. Furthermore, as per Huang He's geomancy forecasts, these are placed in such a way as to form a new whole, as a means of reasserting and reconfirming each of their own positions. These cups are filled with “clean water” and are receptacles for the collection of dust indoors. Visitors will need to walk around them carefully in order to look at the paintings on the walls. As we manoeuvre around the fragile bowls and cups that have been positioned by Huang He, we are compelled to consider the fragile relationships in our surrounding world; yet we experience a vague sense of poetry, as if we are strolling by the shore whilst gazing at the waves. What is interesting is how some visitors would, from time to time, absentmindedly step on the rims of the bowls.

The space composed by the works by Duan Jianyu and Huang He evokes within our consciousness a sense of the intersecting boundaries between our daily lives and fantasy: these nondescript people (“mediocre, yet aspiring to be an elite”) are perhaps charting an epic that expresses how they may not be able to withstand the harsh realities of daily life.
