Comprised of 23 stationary long takes, and shot entirely on interior sets, the film features the filmmaker herself and her parents throughout its approximately 2-hour runtime. It is a presentation of their everyday life: The father runs a leather workshop, while the mother takes charge of the design and production of leather bags. They have invested a lot in the business, both emotionally and financially, yet are barely making ends meet. Every shot smells of documentary. However it is in fact realised with strict mise en scene. That is everything about Oxhide II. Just like Oxhide, the director and her parents played the three members of the family again. There is no fourth person in the shooting scene, except the cats. A leather shop, by which the whole family relies on for surviving, was having the possibility to be closed. So that even a scene which looked calm and quiet in the surface, was actually under the shadow of doom. To cope with these situations, every family member had their own attitude. Even if the disaster was coming, the parents still worried about the employees whether they would be able to find another job. Actually, no matter if the shop was going to be closed or not, there was still no way out. 刘伽茵1981年生于北京。高中时代即明确了做电影的决定。《牛皮》（2005年）是她的第一部剧情长片，也是在电影学院的毕业作品，之前有拍过短片《火车》。现任教于电影学院文学系，《牛皮贰》是她今年完成的新作。 Jiayin Liu, was born in Beijing in 1981. She aspired to become a filmmaker as early as in high school. Oxhide (2005) is her full-length feature debut, which is also her graduation project at Beijing Film Academy (BFA). She had made The Train, a short film in her junior year. Now she teaches in the literature Department at BFA. Oxhide II is her new feature achieved this year.

The documentary film Buried uses a factual and objective viewpoint to revisit, with a commitment to truth and depth that buried piece of history that is the Great Tangshan Earthquake. It wants to find the unknown truth, suffering, and bitterness of how many people were actually buried, and it might expose a much higher number of deaths. Regardless of whether we confirm or deny, the truth can never be buried, history will exist forever. 导演阐述Director’s Statement 1976的唐山大地震留给世人的疑问太多，地震前唐山的地震工作者和北京的地震专家都曾发出过临震警告！但最终却以超过24万人的生命被掩埋为代价，造成了震惊中外的大悲剧。这到底是为什么？面对惨绝人寰的大地震，人类一次又一次的重复着悲剧的发生。人们仅仅是把金钱和无味的泪水献给不幸者，这是人类的悲哀。一个民族必须有勇气正视本民族的弱点，这个民族才能有希望。 The 1976 Tangshan Earthquake left a lot of open questions. Before the earthquake, seismological personnel in Tangshan and quake experts in Beijing had already warned of an imminent quake. But in the end, more than 240,000 people had to pay with their lives, causing a shocking tragedy of massive proportions. Why did this happen? In the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake about 100,000 people were killed. Faced with terrible quakes, the human race repeats tragedy time and time again. It is terrible that people can only offer money and bland tears after the disaster - when better preparation could have saved lives. A nation has to courageously face its own weakness to remain hopeful. 王利波1973年生于哈尔滨，1999年起从事多媒体影像艺术创作，作品有多媒体戏剧《荒诞的墙》。2004开始纪录片创作。2007年参加了广州纪录片大会与宋庄艺术节《07影像档案展》，纪录片《掩埋》获得2009年中国纪录片交流周优秀纪录片奖。现居北京从事纪录片与影像艺术创作。 Wang Libo, born in 1973 in Harbin, started with multimedia art since 1999 and made multimedia drama Absurd Wall. He began to make documentaries since 2004, attended Documentary Conference in Guangzhou and Songzhuang China Arts Festival in 2007. In 2009 Buried won the documentary prize in Chinese Documentary Exchange Week. Now lives and works in Beijing.

A 62 year old Taoist survived even though his temple was largely torn by the disaster. This documentary tells the story of how the Taoist practices the widely believed Chinese traditional religion and the local people’s daily life during the township’s post-quake reconstruction. 陈心中早年毕业于清华大学，获得工科学士学位，后改行出国学习电影艺术，于2003年获得美国天普大学电影学院的艺术硕士学位（MFA)。2004年回国定居北京，致力于独立影片和艺术图片的创作。其主要作品有：《四川街道歌声》（纪录片，1997），《我的名字叫忠》（实验片，1999），《情诗》（故事长片，2004），《成长》（美国故事长片，2004，任摄影指导），《双村记》（纪录长片，2006），《旧城》（实验纪录录像，2008），等等。作品曾入选20余次国际影展，并获过少量奖项。 Zhong Chen is a Beijing based independent filmmaker. He went to USA to study film directing in 1998. He got his degree of Master of Fine Arts in Film & Media Arts from Temple University in 2003. His filmography includes Sichuan Street Songs (1997), My Name Is Zhong (1999), Love Poems (2004), Getting’ Grown (2004, as the DP), Tale of Two Villages (2006), Last Days Before the Flood (2008). His films has been screened in more than 20 international film festivals and won some awards, including the prestigious Kodak Cinematography Award for Documentary.
